DIABETES SPECIALTY

Approved by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), this training program provides certification in Diabetes Specialty for long-term care workers, across Washington state. This is different from and does NOT qualify someone to be Nurse Delegated for Diabetes care, that would be the ND Diabetes class.

State-approved Diabetes course curriculum covers:

introduction to diabetes
-
caregiving for diabetes
-
communication
-
behaviors
-
self care
The one-day Diabetes class also includes a competency exam, which requires a score of 80% or higher to successfully receive a DSHS-approved Diabetes Certificate and 8 hours of Continuing Education units.

Our Diabetes class is offered once a month via zoom. More classes will be added if needed.
