Mental Health, Level 1: Capable Caregiving for Mental Wellness
Approved by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), this training program in Olympia and online provides certification in Mental Health Specialty for long-term care workers, including managers (there is no longer a separate class for managers) across Washington state.
State-approved Mental Health course curriculum covers:

getting help and self-care

suicide prevention

communication dynamics

boundaries

crisis management
-
approaching behaviors as caregivers provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs).

The one-day Mental Health class also includes a competency exam, which requires a score of 80% or higher to successfully receive a DSHS-approved Mental Health Certificate and 8 hours of Continuing Education units.
Our Mental Health class is offered once a month. More classes will be added if needed.
Online Option: The class is available in-person or via zoom. If you attend via zoom it costs $5 extra to cover the cost of mailing the workbook and technology fee. You must register at least 5 days before the class to ensure there is time for the workbook to be mailed to you. You can use a desktop, laptop, tablet or phone to attend class as long as it runs zoom and your camera and microphone are enabled. The test will be given via an online form and the certificate will be emailed to you.
